Our experience has been amazing. Our story came about, because all the real estate agents, we contacted couldn't or wouldn't make our home search possible. The only free time we had is on weekends. No one was willing to show us homes on our schedule. Then by an accidental miracle, we met Crystal **. From the first moment, we talked to her on the phone. I told my wife I think we found our real estate agent. Without hesitation, Crystal agreed to meet us the next morning on a Saturday.
She has been very cordial and highly motivated. We viewed 3 houses that day. After talking with my wife. It was obvious to us we had met our real estate agent. My wife and I signed a contract with Crystal, to buy our new DR Horton home. We are extremely happy with our choice and we can't wait to move into our new D R Horton home. Thank you so much, Crystal! You are a true professional, we will always be grateful to you.

My wife and I recently decided to purchase a home in DR Horton’s Ranch Haven in Murrell’s Inlet. We thought documenting the process for others who might consider a home here or in a different DR Horton community would be a good idea. We used a buyer’s agent to help find a home in the area, and our agent, Taylor **, was outstanding. We spent months looking at the area and various homes. We settled on a house in Ranch Haven because it matched our needs and seemed like a good value. DR Horton’s agent, Dina, explained the property well and showed us around.
Once we decided to purchase a home, DR Horton’s team made the closing process the easiest I have experienced. The only issue that I have noticed, but not a big one, is that none of the houses in the neighborhood meet the “Dwelling Exteriors” article in the restrictions and covenants because the homes have vinyl siding, which is not listed as a permitted exterior building material.
I used the notice of our closing date & time to email DR Horton to arrange a walk-through and punch list before closing. I got a message back quickly, and then a call from the superintendent. The superintendent was very flexible in setting a date for the walk-through/punch list, and he confirmed that a few items that I noticed early in the process were completed.
When I arrived at the home for the initial walk-through and punch list I was surprised to see that someone already completed a punch list. The superintendent explained that they do a punch list before the homeowner. There was masking tape markers on every little blemish. One color for touch up and another for repair. I found a few more things that were not marked, but nothing major. What could have taken several hours took less than an hour.
A couple of weeks later, and a day before closing, we did a “final” walk through. The punch list items were complete with few exceptions, and those that were not done were taken care of that day. Closing went smoothly, and we moved in soon after. We found a few more things that needed attention the day after we moved in, and someone came the same day to resolve them.
We have a few days in the home and all the systems are functioning well. We have had no problems with the appliances, tankless hot water heater, or HVAC. I have never had a better balanced air conditioner in a home. I look forward to seeing how the home settles over the next year, but so far everything has gone well. Radiance - Apache Junction, AZ - 5 Stars to Jaime + DR Horton. For 40 years we've invested most of our biz profits into real estate, not to rent out but to use for our businesses, employees. We've purchased in France. Arizona, California -- from Shea (4 Star), Lennar (3 Star) and got out out of a contract with Geshan (0 Star - horrific, heartless, not to be trusted .. willingly gave up 5k deposit to be just rid of them .. I feel so sorry for the families they screw over). Anyhow, I like DR Horton because they will not sell to investors who want to rent off the bat .. A great experience for newbies. They make it easy and accommodate the buyer without pressure. You get SO much more bang for your buck w DR Horton vs. builders at Blossom Rock across the street. If you are financing I just saw an email that has a 2.99% rate to qualified buyers. You can TRUST DR Horton and feel relaxed during the whole process.

Hello new or future homeowners,
I’m not going to say we didn’t have issues with DR Horton, we did and it was corrected. I’m here to tell you the positive experiences I received when I brought my DR Horton home. This was our first brand new build; we brought homes before just never a brand new one. My experience with the Sale agent Mike ** felt comfortable, he was very professional and knowledgeable. Mike made us feel like family and he made sure we were informed every step of the way during our purchase. We have been in our house for 9 months and Mike still stops by time to time to check on us.
Let me tell you the great experience I received with Richard ** Customer care Rep for Carillon. The first time I met Richard it was about our blinds, Ac and little things I wanted to address. Richard stop by to address the issues I was having in the home. The next day I got calls from the vendors to come and fix the issues I submitted. Everything was completed in about a two week period. Had no issues after that.
The next time I seen Richard it was going over our one year warranty inspection. He called to set up times for the vendors to stop by to address what was on my third-party home inspection. Richard also asked if he could stop by to go over the third-party report with me. We went over everything in the report and before he left he ordered a new garage door and back door. He also made contact with the vendors to come for the other items that needed to be addressed.
Richard ** went far and beyond for us; I know people are going to say that’s his job. NO Richard noticed that I have replaced all the doorknobs and deadbolts to black and DR Horton only has nickel locks and handle. He told me he will go ahead and buy a matching deadbolt to match the door handle to the new garage door that is coming in. He did not have to go out of his way to do that he could have given us the nickel deadbolt, but he was nice enough to get a deadbolt to match my door handle that I replaced. He listened to my concerns and made all the corrections that the third-party inspection seen to be defective.

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Esad **, the manager at D. R. Horton today. Despite his non-fluent English, his adept communication skills enabled seamless interaction. His adept sense of fashion was evident throughout, complemented by a professional demeanor from initiation to conclusion. He meticulously elucidated product details, even addressing minor issues promptly, such as applying blue tape to rectify concerns with the merchandise.

The house we purchased was built with multiple severe defects. From day one, we've been dealing with a shower leak that led to a mold infestation. Two years later, this initial defect is still not fixed. We haven't been able to use our master bathroom for over a year and are living with a mold hazard. We reported the issue to the Warranty Director, Robert **, but for two years and two months, the mold hazard affecting our health has been neglected without resolution. There's been no progress or hope. DO NOT BUY!

Despite our home being less than 3 years old, one of our circuit breakers is malfunctioning, causing our refrigerator circuit breaker to trip every 2 – 3 hours. DR Horton has said that this is not their issue and that repairs would be at our cost. However, there should not be any reason for a circuit breaker to malfunction especially one in a house just 2 ½ years old. Also, there should have been no reason to incorrectly install the initial wiring despite specs from the builder. Instead of offering to make things right, DR Horton representative sent me on wild goose chase to file a warranty claim. That of course was denied, with the representative saying the warranty period has lapsed. This shows no regard for customer relations.
There are several issues around this. Strade Electrical and DR Horton are both part of the problem. 1. The Strada technician sent out to assess the situation was argumentative and condescending. a. He stated that circuit breakers fail regularly and need to be replaced “like tires on a car” which is absurd. b. He said the original wiring was wrong and that the refrigerator should have its own electrical line and separate circuit breaker. c. Without a word, he abruptly turned and left our house.
2. According to the Strada technician and the outside hired electrician, the arch circuit breaker installed is incorrect for a refrigerator because the motor, etc. cycles. 3. The refrigerator is on the same line as the outlets along the outside wall of the kitchen. Although a spokesperson for Strada indicated that the building code at the time of construction allowed this, the code has since been changed to prohibit this installation because of the probability of this problem occurring.
4. We checked the national standards for electrical installation for a refrigerator. The national standards indicate that a refrigerator should be on a dedicated electrical circuit. a. Both the Strada technician and the outside hired electrician stated that installation is wrong as the refrigerator needs to have a separate line and circuit breaker. b. Pasco County and Dade City electrical inspectors have said the same thing; noting that the code was changed because the code which permitted such incorrect combined wiring. c. According to National Electric Code, the standard benchmark for safe electrical design and installation requires that a refrigerator be wired with a dedicated line and circuit breaker. (I can supply the necessary code wording if desired.)
It is our opinion that as a reputable builder, DR Horton should have known that the installation for a refrigerator on a combined electrical line is wrong. There is no reason that we should expect a critical component such as a circuit breaker to fail in such a short time. We would expect that all of our circuit breakers would last for decades. Due to DR Horton’s refusal to make things right, we have to pay for the repairs ourselves and get a new refrigerator as the several times a day mini-power surges with the turning the circuit breaker back on has wrecked the motors and refrigeration components.

Our home is new construction. We have an issue with our AC unit leaking through our bedroom ceiling. DR Horton has pointed the finger at our forgetting air filters that were too good. Another AC company we hired have shown us the filters are the least of our worries. Mold is growing inside and outside of our 1 year old AC unit after bringing attention to this issue 3 months ago. DR Horton is non responsive. Happy to turn this review around if you take care of customers.

We bought our home in November 2023. We just had our one year walk-through. I can’t say enough about James. He is very professional and knowledgeable. James always aims to please his customers. I would highly recommend buying a D.R. Horton home.

We liked the model and expected quality. Unfortunately for a new home I am dealing with a leaking shower that was fixed during the warranty period, and now is still leaking after they “fixed it” - master bedroom. Floors are uneven and move way too much. I am literally afraid they are going to cave in! Doors and floors squeaking as if this 3 year old home is 100 years old. No help from customer service! After the warranty period you no longer exist! I think if something is broken and fixed during the warranty period and was not done properly a second time it should be addressed!! Very disappointed. I put my life savings into a home to live in for many many years and now regret it immensely.
