The J.D. Eckman team shines the brightest when the stakes are high. On August 5th, our crew was able to set all beams and install the overhang falsework and shielding during a five-hour planned shutdown of the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Northeast Extension on our Tilghman Street Bridge project in Lehigh County. This work represents Stage 2, which focuses on one of the two spans on this bridge. The centerpiece of this operation was a 700-ton Liebherr LTM1650 Crane with 92-foot luffing jib from Sautter Crane Rental, Inc. #JDEckmanBridge

If you get out the site early enough, you just might experience the rare sight of a J.D. Eckman machine sitting idle. Our own Gary Smalls captured our Caterpillar 335 F Excavator in the early morning hours before work geared up at the Route 222/Route 30 Interchange project in Lancaster County. #JDEckmanEquipment

Big things happen when our team fires on all cylinders. We recently set the last of the bridge beams for the SR 1 project in Bensalem. Getting the substructure ready and the beams delivered to the site was a huge effort by the entire team. Not to mention, we used all available resources from a skid beam, to a double crane pick, to a single crane pick to get the job done. #JDEckmanBridge

American innovation is alive and well at J.D. Eckman, and it's on display at our Delaware Memorial Bridge project with a clever new jacking system our team engineered. Watch the efficiency as they install new cables. The new and existing cables are attached, so the system allows them to simply pull in the new and remove the old. #JDEckmanInnovation

Not all the work happens out in the field. The team at the US 322 & Chambers Hill Road Intersection Improvement project in Dauphin County is working behind the scenes to put a successful schedule together. It takes a village. #JDEckmanTeam

Nothing makes us happier at J.D. Eckman than seeing mentors supporting the next generation. Riding shotgun is Larry Sweigert who dedicated 26 years as a superintendent before retiring in 2018. McKenna Reichard (right), a superintendent on our SR 61 job in Frackville, has been with the company for 18 years. He started as an operator and rose to superintendent and he says it was mostly because of what Larry taught him as a mentor and a friend. Larry likes to come back and check up on McKenna. One of the perks of working in the field for J.D. Eckman is the incredible views. Our own Chris Schaeffer captured this crew pouring a bridge deck with our new concrete pump on our Route 1 project in Bensalem Township. #BridgeConstruction

On June 27, we held a luncheon to celebrate the retirement of a veteran member of the J.D. Eckman family. Our CFO Dennis Brubaker was hired by Jim Eckman 34 years ago and has played an instrumental role in the growth of the company. We welcomed Dennis' family to the celebrate with us as well. His grandkids presented him with a card that read, “now you can swim with us more.” Although he will be greatly missed at J.D. Eckman, it brings us happiness knowing that the second leg of his journey will be spent enjoying more time with his family. #JDEckmanFamily
